The dairy business is conducted through two
companies: Puleva Food and Lactimilk.
Puleva Food was organised on 29 April 1910,
initially linked to the Trading and Catering sectors.
In the mid-fifties, for health reasons, a law was passed in
Spain on the need to guarantee the supply of hygienic milk.
Around that time, in 1954, the company changed its name to UNIASA
(Unión Industrial y Agroganadera S.A.).
In 1975 it opened its plant at Camino de Purchil in Granada,
which, through successive phases of development, gradually increased
its processing capacity from 400,000 litres/day to the 1,000,000
litres/day it handles now.
The company went public in 1976 and in 1982 it purchased 100%
of Compañía de Dietéticos y Alimentación
S.A. (EDDA), through which it entered the Baby Foods
sector.
Since 1994, the company has focused on the sale of distinguished
dairy products with a high value added, stepping up its research
and development activities to guarantee top quality and innovation
in its products.
In 1996 PULEVA embarked on a new strategy,
based on research and development as a technological distinguishing
factor, taking a position in the functional foods segment and
strengthening its brand name, becoming associated with well-being,
health and quality.
The representative brand name of this company is Puleva.
Puleva Food has also developed www.pulevasalud.com,
a portal specialising in health matters, with the participation
of leading foundations and professional medical societies.
Lactimilk, another Ebro Puleva company, administers
a different part of the Group’s dairy business. The most
important asset of this division is the value of its brands,
with an awareness of over 90%, Ram nationwide and El Castillo
in Catalonia. Lactimilk endeavours to fulfil its objectives
by meeting consumer needs in convenience.
The brand names used by this company are Ram,
El Castillo and Nadó. |
